Might it is in a stretch, yet I have a concept that the Irma Thomas song they use throughout black Mirror is personifying an innovation in a way.

You are watching: You can blame me try to shame me

The song seems to be about someone who is continuously underestimated/put down, yet who is always around and also will constantly be "there because that you," for better or worse...

Just a rapid analysis:

You deserve to blame me / try to shame me / and also still I'll care for friend / You can run approximately / even put me down / still I'll be there because that you / The human being / might think I'm foolish / castle can't watch you / favor I have the right to / Oh however anyone / that knows what love is / will understand

You can be anti-tech/abusive of modern technology or almost everywhere inbetween, but in the end, tech is still there-- helping you, city hall you, a component of our daily lives.

Thoughts? am I getting to too much? has this already been confirmed and I'm just late to pick up on it?

I not think you're reading too much into it, black Mirror loves to use music to companion it's message and also its huge one "Anyone who Knows What Love Is" is the pond on the head of exactly how we act technology.

A bigger instance of music use is mountain Junipero, the entire episode provides songs indigenous the time period to complement the the atmosphere or foreshadow events.

I think you're point out on. I love the song and also really want to asking Charlie and Annabelle during their AMA why they decided to use it but missed the chance.

Especially the very first two lines - civilization are always quick to run to blaming the tech once something disastrous happens; just look at exactly how much of a poor rep the video games sector gets for reportedly encouraging people to walk violent acts.
