Naofumi can come save me anytime but in this week’s Shield Hero Naofumi and the others still on the run. The past comes back to haunt Raphtalia as they take refuge with a noble acquaintance of Melty’s. The focus has shifted to Raphtalia and I’ve been waiting to get to know more about our cute racoon girl.

You are watching: Rising of the shield hero episode 14

Japanese Original Title: 盾の悪魔

Plot

Matly forces Naofumi and the others out in the open, while still on the run. They find refuge with a noble acquaintance of Melty’s. Past creeps up on Raphtalia from her time as a slave and is reunited with those demons from her nightmares.

Episode Highlights

Gutsy Girl: Noble Melty once again proves that she is no damsel in distress waiting to be saved. She lied about Naofumi’s whereabouts to protect him. The girl has got guts. Nothing but respect over here and my heart is melted in a puddle for this pigtail cutie.

Pig: More introductions of nobility scum. This time we have Raiber. Next episode we go into Raphtalia’s past and it’s a guarantee that I’m going to hate Raiber even more than I already do. Hurts your heart seeing the painful look on Raphtaila’s face the whole time.

Believe In Her: Naofumi comes all in a gallantry entrance to save Melty and finally decides to believe in Melty’s faith towards him. Melty’s faith for Naofumi is just endearing. How levelly mature she is compared to her evil sister; it makes her all the more so cute.

Friendship: The quick connection Melty and Filo have built together is all the cuteness. Can’t handle these cuties Naofumi has around him and I don’t think he realizes how lucky he is.

Tactful: Naofumi knows how to make quick work of getting things done now, as he demonstrated by using his viper shield and poisoning the knight to tell him where Melty is being hidden. Naofumi’s attraction levels are rising fast, oh dear.

Themes And Trivia

Previous Shield Hero: Another scene with King Melromarc expressing his hate for the Shield Hero. This suggests the possibility that a previous Shield Hero did something to cause this current hatred.

Raphtalia: Raphtalia is a precious character you want to protect and I’ve been waiting for more backstory. She is a cutie no question here, but I am glad she is the focus now. Probably will love her even more. I’m beyond invested in this series and I WANT to get to know these characters I’ve come to love so much. Backstory is so important to me in stories and I believe all main characters should be treated to one.

Comments

Things flowed at a slower pace in this week’s episode and that’s all good for me. I love that the focus is being shifted to Raphtalia. I’ve been dying to know how she wound up as a slave. I’m invested in these characters and want to know even more. I don’t want Raphtalia’s cuteness to be the only reason in liking her character. I’m very excited for next episode now and possibly might shed a tear.

Naofumi continues to amaze me every episode. The guy is nothing like he was on at the start. He’s a male favorite for me now for life. I gush about him all day and let alone this whole series. Can you tell how invested I am in this series?

Melty Knows How To Melt Your Heart

Another week, another great episode. I’m excited and to learn more about Raphtalia’s past so I can love her character even more. But no way it’s going to be a happy episode. Have to wait until next episode to find out Raphtalia’s past demons and trauma!
